Today was the most anticipated finals of Dota 2 Chongqing major where one of the best teams in the pro scene, Virtus Pro and Team Secret, had to compete against each other to proves themselves that they are the best Dota 2 team right now. The Chongqing Major is the 2nd Major of the 2018/19 season for StarLadder and ImbaTV’s first overall Major. 16 of the teams gather from around to globe to compete for the huge 1,000,000 USD prize pool and valuable DPC points for The International 2019. Today was the 5th and final day of the Major where two of the best teams fought their way to become the champions. Here are the complete details of the final day of Chongqing Major.
Dota 2 Chongqing Major Day 8 Details
Before getting into the details of the final day, here’s a summary of the Major so far. The Major follows the same schedule and rules like other Valve Majors with $ 1M USD prize pool and valuable DPC points to qualify for The International 2019.
Upper Bracket Details
The upper bracket was quite straight forward as Team Secret showed promising results as they wiped the floor with any opponents they faced until Virtus Pro in the upper bracket finals. VP defeated Team Secret with a promising 2-1 and throwing them to the lower bracket. Liquid, EG, and Fnatic lost their respective matches dropping them to the lower bracket.
Lower Bracket Details
To be honest, the lower bracket was a mess as many great teams had to play to their best abilities and strength to survive. Sadly, Liquid didn’t do that well as the fans were expecting. This could be possible due to missing out their best core player Miracle- who missed the Major due to some personal issues. The former TI6 winner from Wings, Shadow joined the squad which initially seemed huge but the team eventually got eliminated in lower bracket round 3 by Fnatic.
EG, on the other hand, seemed strong even eliminating TI8 finalists, PSG.LGD with a stunning 2-0 score along with eliminating Vici Gaming with a score of 2-1
Although the team didn’t do well in the lower bracket finals losing to Team Secret with 2-0 allowing the Team Secret to take revenge in the finals against VP.

Virtus Pro vs Team Secret Final Rematch Details
Not only Team Secret felt dominating, but Virtus Pro also made their way to the finals quite effortlessly defeating Secret to the lower bracket. Secret didn’t back down. They defeated EG in today’s lower bracket finals to get revenge on VP. The finals were quite one-sided if you ask me. As Secret didn’t give any break to VP ultimately destroying them with an impressive 3-1 score making them the first team to win the year’s first Major with grabbing valuable DPC points for TI9.
