2016’s Doom is headed for the Nintendo Switch in a weeks time, but Doom file size on Switch just got updated a few moments ago, and the numbers are pretty high.
The one benefit of this file size is that the game lets you choose whether you want the singleplayer component installed as a standalone and not install the multiplayer. It is a bittersweet pill, but it greatly helps reduce the file size.
When we talk about Doom file size on Switch, do keep in mind that the game was ~50 GB on consoles, ~70 GB on PC. You have to applaud the developers for doing such a fantastic job on shrinking the file size for a console with severe limitations on storage when compared to the other platforms.

It has been reported that the game with just singleplayer will put the game at ~13 GB, and the additional ~9 GB for multiplayer will put this game at the ~23 GB install point.
So there you have it, you can see that unlike certain other developers, it is possible to put even the most modern games on a platform without forcing your consumer base to do a completely new purchase.
Early previews of people who have played the game on the Nintendo Switch have reported relatively good performance while still maintaining strong visual quality, but all of this considering the severe hardware limitations of the Nintendo Switch when competing against the PS4 and Xbox One is truly remarkable!
While Doom was known to be in development for a long time and got rebooted too so that it could be the game that we thoroughly enjoyed, it is good to see that the phrase “Where there is a will, there is a way” managed to persevere here today.
Doom is headed for the Switch on November 10th 2017.
