If you have been following the development progress of the game then you’d know that Dead Island 2 hasn’t exactly been a smooth ride for the developers. The first game came out in 2011 and the second game went into development sometime around 2014. Things were delayed further when the development of the game was undertaken by Sumo Digital in 2016. Nothing much has been revealed about the game all these years, however, surprisingly a listing for Dead Island 2 for Xbox One appeared on Microsoft Store out of the blue.
Dead Island 2 for Xbox One Listed on Microsoft Store
THQ Nordic recently noted that the game is indeed moving towards completion and fans can expect to hear more soon. This was some time ago and perhaps the sudden appearance of the game on Microsoft store is what was meant by THC. Whatever the case may be, a listing for the game has, in fact, appeared on Microsoft store.
The listing of the game states the release date as well which is apparently Dec 31st, 2019. However, expect the date to change as this is most likely a place holder date which might change after an official announcement is made. Seeing how E3 2019 is just around the corner there is a good chance that the game will be announced/revealed at E3.
Moreover, we also know so far that the game will be headed to PS4, Xbox One as well as PC. Apart from the short gameplay footage of the game released in 2014 at Gamescom, we haven’t had much content from the game so far. We do know that Dead Island 2 would feature an open world. The game would take place in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and an undisclosed third location in California, unlike the first game which was set on the island of Banoi off the coast of Papua New Guinea. The game’s combat has different mechanics than its predecessors. Dead Island 2 also includes several features from its predecessors, such as the Rage and crafting systems.
Let me know in the comments what your thoughts are regarding the pre-order listing for the game.
