Electronic Arts and Crytek have announced that the Crysis 1 Multiplayer Mode will no longer be available from October 11th, 2018. According to them, there weren’t the required number of players to justify keeping the games multiplayer around. It makes sense that a game that came out on November 13, 2007, would not see prolonged multiplayer support. Given the lack of popularity for its multiplayer, we’re surprised it took so long.
Below is the full statement:
Online multiplayer will no longer be available from October 11, 2018. We don’t have the required number of players to keep up the service and ensure all our players have a great online experience. We appreciate your support and hope you continue enjoying our single-player campaign.
Given the level of detail in Crysis 1 Multiplayer mode, especially in the games Power Struggle Mode, it is clear that the developers poured their hearts out into each aspect. But sadly, it never really took off.
