Music in video games is a powerful phenomenon, it can turn a great moment into an epic one and take the regular enjoyment of an amazing moment into a euphoric state of complete immersion within the game world. The Elder Scrolls Games have had some amazing soundtracks composed by the masterful Jeremy Soule. Songs like Far Horizons and Journeys End still leave us in absolute awe of their beauty. So then, with heavy hearts, we present to you the news that the legacy of Jeremy Soule and The Elder Scrolls Games appears to be finished since he is not working on The Elder Scrolls VI.
Around two hours ago, Jeremy Soule made the announcement himself on his Facebook account. The status from him read:
“As so many of my fans have asked… While I’ve not said much about this out of courtesy to Bethesda, I would never turn my back on TES, and I believe that my involvement would hinge on a creative decision on their part and where they want to take the franchise. To confirm, I am currently not involved with TES VI.”
Jeremy Soule ensured the fans that he would never turn his back on The Elder Scrolls. This makes it sound like he wanted to work on The Elder Scrolls VI but couldn’t because of creative differences. It makes one wonder as to just what sort of creative differences could be worth removing the iconic composer.
Fan Reaction to Jeremy Soule’s Absence in The Elder Scrolls VI
Fans were vocal about their disappointment in the comments of Jeremy Soule’s Facebook post with some saying that they couldn’t imagine the series without Jeremy while other’s said that Bethesda seems to have lost their way.
This does not have to be a bad thing and we don’t want to count a new composer out before the game is even out but at the same time, fans are valid in their disappointment because they were likely emotionally attached to Soule’s work in the franchise.
At the end of the day, all we can do is remember and forever cherish and honor the work that Jeremy Soule has already done. In memory of his amazing work with the franchise, here is one of our favorite tracks from him:
