Chernobylite is an upcoming Sci-fi Survival horror FPS video game that’s set in the ruined desolate land of, you guessed it, Chernobyl. The game focuses on exploring the seemingly dead landscapes of Chernobyl, which is a perfect setting for a horror game since one quick google search will show you plenty of eerie empty images. It is definitely a hard vibe to capture but a new gameplay teaser trailer and plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign suggest that they just might pull it off.
The teaser trailer seems to capture the vibe perfectly with soft winds blowing over almost eerily beautiful and empty landscapes being reclaimed by mother nature. The lighting is also looking fantastic in creating a mood. You can find the trailer below:
It shows a progression system based on time. It shows transitions from Day 1 to Day 13 suggesting that this might play into the gameplay somehow.
Kickstarter Details
The Kickstarter details were made in the following message by developers Farm 51:
“Within the next few weeks, we’ll be starting the Kickstarter campaign for Chernobylite. During its duration, gamers will get the chance to pre-order the game and make pledges to receive some really cool items, including the highly demanded Black Stalker mask. The crowdfunding campaign will also let us collect some extra funds to do the Chernobylite location expansions plus add some extra features that we were always dreaming of. So we encourage all players to sign up to our newsletter and stay tuned for the news on the Kickstarter campaign launch date!”
This Kickstarter project is a great way of expanding the game’s horizon by actively getting the community involved especially when the game looks this promising.
The game will also be playable at PAX EAST from March 28 to 31 according to Gematsu.
Chernobylite will release sometime in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
