A very detailed trailer of Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Multiplayer and Blackout has been released. The trailer is for the multiplayer beta which arrives first on PS4 on August 3rd. The trailer had a lot of more gameplay details about Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Multiplayer mode and some new news about Blackout.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Multiplayer mode updates
The trailer showed a manner of different drones. One which players could drive themselves which would make it remote controlled. A guard dog of some sort was shown suggesting it might be an ability of one of the characters.
The trailer text tells us that there will be 10 playable specialists each with their own unique set of abilities. Along with this, players are promised 6 multiplayer maps, some of which were shown in the trailer itself. 6 new multiplayer modes are also coming. Along with this was the standard fare that there would be new weapons and new equipment.
We then see some of that new equipment as we see a player walking straight into a laser trap that explodes on contact. We also see some sort of cover that can be set up by players to shield them in emergencies. This cover is apparently set up by the player themselves as a metallic shield structure.
Then the text “Devastating Scorestreaks” pops up followed shortly by an air strike on an enemy. Indicating that scorestreaks can give you the ability to air raid other players. Sweet.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Blackout Updates
Then the last part of the trailer shows a big open map and some people dropping in on helicopters. But they’re not just dropping in like gliding down on Fortnite. They’re being shot out of the sky and engaging in heavy-handed helicopter shootouts with other players. According to the trailer, the blackout demo is coming in September.
This looks like a genuinely interesting take on the drop-in mechanic. It seems clear that Black Ops 4 is ready to take the Battle Royale genre of games to exciting new places.
