Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 came out a few days ago and it’s doing excellent in sales and players are happy, for the most part, that is, but it turns out that is something really concerning going on with the Black Ops 4 Send Rates at the moment, and it’s shocking to see how lower those are than that of the Beta, and other competitors like PUBG and Fortnite.
Black Ops 4 Send Rates Lower than Beta
The community is literally super angry right now, you can visit any subreddit or forum and you’ll see how players are cursing and complaining over what Treyarch has done.
So, it turns out that the current version of the game has a 20 Hz send rate, which is the rate at which update packets are sent between systems, this is a vital performance metric that is essential in assuring that the lag between two players is minimized, what you’ll be amazed to know is that the current send rate is literally 3 times less than the send rate in the Beta, which was 60 Hz, yes, you read that right, Treyarch has reduced the performance of the game, for whatever reason and it’s downright embarrassing.
Reddit user Smcro did an extensive analysis of this in a post which you can follow here and the results are seriously shocking. He has performed testing using Wireshark, which is a popular networking program, on 7 different servers and the results are same, the send rate for a fact has been lowered from 60 Hz to 20 Hz.
Send Rate Comparison with other Games
Here’s the thing, Black Ops 4 is a fully priced $60 triple-A game, not a free-to-play or $20 game, and you’ll be surprised to see that those very cheap and free games have better send rates than this, check out some images below, showing the send rates for games like Fortnite, PUBG, Overwatch, Siege and more
I don’t think Treyarch realizes this but this is absolutely pathetic on their end to reduce the quality of their game, and falsely showing better performance in the beta, it’s troubling to see how they would advertise an entirely different from a performance point of view and release a game that has different performance causing players to not get the experience they were promised.
