It was revealed that Dwayne Johnson is officially playing Black Adam in the new Shazam film that DC and Warner Bros are planning to release somewhere between now and 2020. After months of speculation and countless teases Dwayne just erased all the ambiguities relating Black Adam by just clicking the “send” button on his Twitter feed.
This means that yes, we know who is Black Adam but who will play Shazam? Back to the drawing board then. Here are some new candidates for the position of Shazam. We have a total of five actors who could make an awesome Shazam to face off against Dwayne’s Black Adam.
Gerard Butler really hasn’t gotten himself into the comic book world. Except for the adaption of his “graphic novel” 300 and his Watchmen side story Tales of the Black Freighter. Even with that experience aside, Gerard Butler can be a wealthy candidate for the role of Shazam. Also it is helpful to evenly balance the age ratio of the team.
But it is more likely that even if he does gets a chance of playing the role, he will possibly pass the role because of his London has Fallen.
Now this is the place where things get interesting. We know that Jason Mamoa has been dodging any sort of questions as being cast as Aquaman. Although he hasn’t totally put working for DC out of the cards.
Physique wise he is the best contender for the role of Shazam. Consider Jason Mamoa’s Shazam against Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam would be hell of scene to watch.
Get your laughs while you can kids as Ryan Reynolds may get a piece of DC Comics once again. He did not get a fair piece of DC Comics apple. His Green Lantern has probably more than likely barred his re-casting in that same role. But that shouldn’t block him from being re-casted as Shazam against the powerful Black Adam.
Want Ryan Reynolds but don’t want to pay his salary or any other Green Lantern comparisons? Well Ryan Kwanten just may be the person for this. He has the ability to be dead serious and comically hilarious when he wants to be. And Ryan Kwanten is kind of person who you want to cast as Shazam.
Yes. Dwayne Johnson. You read that absolutely right. Although he has been cast as the role of Black Adam doesn’t mean that he can’t play the role of Shazam as well. Black Adam is a precursor of Shazam’s in certain incarnations, and he does use the same word of power to trigger his abilities. It would be great to see Johnson to pull both the characters at the same time indeed.
