Biostar just disclosed their plans for their new BIOSTAR M500 M.2 2280 SSD. This latest solid state drive features 3D TLC NAND flash. 3D Nand flash enable to to store more on a smaller physical space as compared to 2D NAND. It will also help in lowering the power consumption, providing more read write operations with higher performance. The M.2 2280 form user by BIOSTAR M500 is compatible with the new genaration laptops, mini PCs and motherboards.
BIOSTAR M500 M.2 2280 Specs and Speed:
BIOSTAR M500 M.2 2280 comes is different storage capacities from 128GB to 1 TB. Using non volatile memory (NVMe) 1.2 it provides sequential read transfer rates from 1500 to 1700 Mb/s. The sequential write rates are impressive too, from 550 Mb/s to 11 Mb/s. The flash used by BIOSTAR M500 M.2 2280 is 3D TLC for all its storage capacities. The interface used is PCI-express Gen3x2 interface providing high end compatibility.
Having DDR3/DDR3L DRAM cache, it also supports AES256. It also Include BCH and LDPC ECC, plus Reed-Solomon Raid protection. This makes Biostar M500 among the best in SSD league, competing with the the big names like samsung. It has Read/write Input Output Operations per second of up to 200K/180K.
Smart Temperature Display:
BIOSTAR M500 M.2 2280 uses smart LED display that is located on the heatsink cover for keeping the track of temperature. It uses three levels to show the temperature of the solid state drive. The temperature when below 50 C the light remains green. For temperature between 50 to 65°C, and red for temperature above 65°C the LED turns yellow. When the temperature raises from 65°C it turns red. To contain power and performance M500 M.2 SSD sports a diamond shape heatsink sink design providing efficient cooling all across.
Price:
The price for different capacities vary. BIOSTAR M500-128GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD MSRP will be available for $59. BIOSTAR M500-256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD MSRP for $99, BIOSTAR M500-512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD MSRP for $149 and BIOSTAR M500-1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD MSRP for $269.
