DRM and Performance
Assassin’s Creed: Origins Performance has been impacted due to Ubisoft’s various layers of anti-piracy measures including Denuvo 4.8, VMProtect and Ubisoft’s standard Uplay security were a usual drain on their system’s resources. It will be interesting to note how much of a difference the removal of all anti-piracy measures will make on the game.
It will be interesting to note if Ubisoft will remove the anti-piracy measures now that the game has been cracked, but Watch Dog 2, still has it and suffers from high CPU usage. However, Ubisoft representatives have stated that these measures don’t impact performance at all
As Ubisoft told Gearnuke:
“We’re confirming that the anti-tamper solutions implemented in the Windows PC version of Assassin’s Creed Origins have no perceptible effect on game performance.”
Denuvo 5.0
The good news for Denuvo and Ubisoft however, is that the game took more than 3 months to crack, during the frame time all major sales wouldn’t have been affected at all. Other games were not so lucky, being cracked in in a matter of days or weeks. Denuvo already has a 5.0 version out that is used in Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, Dragon Ball FighterZ and will be used in Far Cry 5, we’ll have to see how long that lasts for them or will Denuvo finally have an uncrackable version. Last month Denuvo was purchased by the digital security company Irdeto.
