When Microsoft released Windows Phone 8, it somehow ditched previous Windows Phone users as none of the Windows Phone 7.x devices were able to update to Windows Phone 8. According to Microsoft, there were some hardware limitations in Windows Phone 7.x devices that created hurdles in the way of upgrading to latest Windows Phone 8. Keeping in view, the issue, Microsoft provided Windows Phone 7.x users with Windows Phone 7.8 update. The update brought many new features of Windows Phone 8 to their Windows Phone 7.x devices like resizable live tiles and more. However the update did not was as good as WP 8 is. Now it was a question in the mind of WP 8 users that will their phones receive further major upgrades?

Considering this question, Windows Phone’s Director of public relations Greg Sullivan says ,

“We will not have the same experience as we had when Windows Phone 7 was upgraded to Windows Phone 8.”

He further mentioned that unlike WP 7, Windows Phone 8 is a “powerful” platform capable of supporting upgrades. So it suggests that Windows Phone 8 users will surely get the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 update on their handsets. So Windows Phone 8 users can have peace of mind now. Moreover, Windows Phone 8.1 is set to be the biggest update the platform has ever seen.  We are very excited to see what Windows Phone 8.1 brings to users.
