You just need to boot your device in <i>Recovery mode<\/i> to carry out the whole procedure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Note: <\/b>The method told ahead does not want your device to be \u2018rooted\u2019 or unlock the boot-loader. Neither it wipes your data nor it affect your warranty.<b><\/b><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Steps of Manually Installing Android 4.4 KitKat Update on Nexus 4:<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Before proceeding make sure you have connected your Nexus device and PC. Don\u2019t forget to download the ADB\/Fastboot drivers from <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/download.clockworkmod.com\/test\/UniversalAdbDriverSetup6.msi\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Step 1:<\/b>\u00a0 Now, it\u2019s time to setup <i>ADB environment<\/i> on your PC. Download the ADB\/Fastboot files on your PC. Here are the download links depending upon the PC, you use.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>For <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/d-h.st\/iqA\">Windows<\/a><\/li>\n<li>For <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/dl.dropboxusercontent.com\/u\/1360819\/android.zip\">Apple<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Step 2:<\/b>\u00a0 Make a new folder on the desktop of your PC named \u2018<i>Google<\/i>\u2019 and copy all the ADB files here.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Step 3:<\/b>\u00a0 Download the <i>Android 4.4 KitKat OTA<\/i> update <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/android.clients.google.com\/packages\/ota\/google_mako\/c7d8660af65b878835d5248252f51dcbf53c2001.signed-two-step.signed-occam-KRT16S-from-JWR66Y.d1b99704.zip\">here<\/a>. Rename it to \u2018<i>OTA.zip<\/i>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Step 4:<\/b>\u00a0 Copy the folder inside the \u2018<i>Google<\/i>\u2019 folder created on Desktop.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Step 5:<\/b>\u00a0 Boot your <b>Nexus 4 device<\/b> in <i>Recovery Mode<\/i>. To do so, switch your phone off. Press \u2018<i>Volume Up<\/i>\u2019, \u2018<i>Volume Down\u2019<\/i> and \u2018<i>Power<\/i>\u2019 keys simultaneously. This will boot your phone in <i>Bootloader mode<\/i>. Select the \u2018<i>Recovery Mode<\/i>\u2019 and press \u2018<i>Power<\/i>\u2019 key to proceed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Step 6:<\/b>\u00a0 After booting in <i>Recovery Mode<\/i>, your device will display an <b>Android logo with red exclamation mark<\/b>. Now press \u2018<i>Volume Up<\/i>\u2019 and \u2018<i>Power<\/i>\u2019 keys simultaneously again to boot in <i>stock Android recovery<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Note:<\/span>\u00a0It may not be done in first attempt so you may need to try two three times.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Step 7:<\/b>\u00a0 When booted in stock Android recovery, select the option \u2018<i>Apply update from ADB<\/i>\u2019 using <i>Volume keys <\/i>and press \u2018<i>Power<\/i>\u2019 key to proceed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Step 8:<\/b>\u00a0 Run <i>Command Prompt<\/i> on your PC. Navigate to \u2018<i>Google<\/i>\u2019 folder on your PC using CMD.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Step 9:<\/b>\u00a0 Run the following command:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>&#8216;adb sideload ota.zip&#8217;<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The process will be automatically started. Installation files will be copied to your handset.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Step 10:<\/b> If you have not already modified system files, the process will not generate any errors.
