If you are an anime/manga fan and watched any of Trigger studio shows then you must be aware of the title “Kill la Kill”. It was an action, comedy series focusing on the main protagonist Ryūko Matoi. The series had a slow start but boy it keeps getting better and better. Oh no, I should control myself here. Anyways, Studio Trigger’s anime Kill la Kill is being adapted into an arena-style fighting game by Arc System Works, the studio behind Dragon Ball FighterZ and Guilty Gear Xrd. It is called “Kill La Kill The Game: IF”.

Kill la Kill The Game: IF Gameplay Details

Kill la Kill The Game: IF is very similar to Dragon Ball FighterZ and other 3D battle action game, where you dash around in the arena to use multiple attacks to fight. Players can close the gap with long distance attacks and steps if the player gets a significant distance between them and the enemy.

When characters are nearby each other, players can drive into the enemy with close-range attack combos. Reduce the enemy’s HP to zero to win.

The controls are really easy and you can input D-Pad keys and press face buttons simultaneously to unleash various attacks. Although there is only one button for close-range attacks, by pressing the button while inputting a d-pad key, as well as using the attack buttons while jumping or dashing, you can unleash attacks with various directions and range.

The controls are not that simple as they might sound. Through adding “Evasion” and “Read Evasion Attacks” to the basic, “Blow,” “Guard,” and “Break Attack,” system you can enjoy battles which are rather simple or strategic.

"kill

“Ketsui Hyoumei Enzetsu,” or “Speech of Expressed Determination,” is a game system that reproduces the “conversation scenes with the enemy while fighting” as often seen in the anime. During the battle, by landing a “Ketsui Burst” with the L1 + R1 buttons, that character’s Ketsui Hyoumei Enzetsu will activate. By activating it, a rock-paper-scissors system will appear on each player’s side of the screen, and each player must choose one option to speak during their verbal dispute.

If the character who activates the Ketsui Hyoumei Enzetsu either wins or ties, their “Ketsui Level,” which is tied to the firmness of their statements, will rise. By increasing a character’s Ketsui Level, they will significantly strengthen in ways such as basic ability improvements and turning some special moves into super special moves. If you reach the maximum Ketsui Level, the deadly blow known as “Seni Soushitsu Ougi” becomes available to use. Once your Ketsui Level rises, it will not decrease for the duration of that battle.
