But users of Windows won\u2019t have to wait long for the feature as Microsoft has updated the Video app in Windows 8 and 8.1 and it now supports playback of MKV files.<\/p>\n<p>MKV file combines video, audio and subtitles into one file. So now you won\u2019t have to download a separate media player like <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" title=\"VLC for Android finally comes out of Beta\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thenerdmag.com\/vlc-for-android-stable\/\" target=\"_blank\">VLC media player<\/a> to play MKV files separately as it is now supported by Windows itself through Windows 8 video app.<\/p>\n<p>The Windows 8 video app\u00a0has been updated for every supported hardware (32-bit and 64-bit). The MKV support was first brought to Xbox One earlier this year and now Windows also support them.
