Learn about the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1

Windows Phone 8.1 is in rumors from many months. The new WP version is expected to come in April at Microsoft’s Build Conference. Unlike the previous version, Windows Phone 8.1 enables the support for UPGRADE TO IT. Remember, WP7 users were unable to upgrade to Windows Phone 8 due to lack of support. Moreover, Windows Phone 8.1 will also support the current WP8 devices.

What’s New in Windows Phone 8.1?

CORTANA:

Till now, Windows Phone has lacked the support for Voice Assistant. While its competitors i.e. Google and Apple keeps on making their assistants i.e. Google Now and SIRI better. But, Microsoft will make debut of its Voice Assistant i.e. Cortana. Microsoft’s Cortana will make use of Foursquare mobile data.

NOTIFICATION CENTER:

Windows Phone 8.1 will come with a central Notification Center. It will enable you to access all the notifications under one window.

VOLUME CONTROLS:

For the first time, separate Volume Controls for apps like Ringer+ and Media+ apps. This will increase your ease for such apps.

ACTIONABLE NOTIFICATIONS:

Now, you don’t need to open each app to perform an action for a certain notification. Windows Phone 8.1 enables you to perform such actions without opening that particular app.

ON-SCREEN KEYS:

Something for OEMs too. Windows Phone 8.1 will bring optional virtual buttons. So now, the companies can make Windows Phones without any hardware button too.

DUAL SIM SUPPORT:

This feature is again optional. Now for the OEMs whom want to make Dual-SIM Windows Phones, the support has been added in Windows Phone 8.1.

FILE MANAGER:

Atlast, File Manager also reaches Windows Phone. Now you will be able to browse all the stuff in Memory Storage of your device.

QUICK SETTINGS:

Now you can configure certain chosen settings just by doing some taps on the screen.

LARGE DISPLAY SUPPORT:

Microsoft will also bring support for large displays i.e. more than 7-inch in Windows Phone 8.1. Now, OEMs can easily increase size of the display of Windows Phone.

LARGE TILE SUPPORT:

The recent leaks show the Windows Phone 8.1 will support all Tiles sizes i.e. Small, Medium, Wide and Large.

Availability for Devices:

As soon as Windows Phone 8.1 launches, it will be soon made officially available for all devices. At this stage, we can expect it the update to be a ‘massive’ hit. So guys, Windows Phone continues to grow in its full fledge.
