Dotemu seems to have posted a rather exciting tweet on their twitter earlier today, according to the tweet Windjammers 2 is soon arriving to the Nintendo Switch Console. The announcement came after Nintendo UK uploaded a 20 min long video to their youtube account showcasing indie highlights. Windjammers 2 will be a direct sequel to the original Windjammers game which came out in 2010 on Wii virtual console. It is a fast-paced sports arcade game. However, the very first instance of the game can be traced back to 1994 when it was initially released on the Neo Geo arcade system.
As far as the gameplay is concerned, we speculate that much of the original mechanics of the game will be retained in the upcoming sequel however graphics and other aspects of the game will obviously be refined and better suited towards current trends in gaming. The game is played by choosing one of the six available characters in the original game, each with their own unique speed and power ratings and special throws. Windjammers 2 was teased by Nintendo UK on their Youtube channel earlier today, the video below titled “Indie Highlights” offers a glimpse of the upcoming game.

The release date for the game has not been specified yet however according to a few sources the game is sure to arrive sometime next year.
