What is Google Home Hub? Specs, Price, Release Date and Colors

Google Home Hub

Google home are a brand of speakers by Google and now at the Google Pixel Event, a new addition has been made to the Google home family, the Google Home Hub.

What is Google Home Hub?

Diya Jolly the vice president project manager at Google introduced the latest addition to the Google Home family, the Google Home Hub. As we already know that the Google Home is a series of smart speakers by Google. They are very similar to what Amazon’s Alexa. You basically have to give instruction to the device to interact with services through Google’s intelligent personal assistant called Google Assistant. You give an instruction and the device will do the job. Example if you ask it to play music, it will search and find the perfect song for you!

So, the question here is what is Google Home Hub. Instead of just speakers, Google added a tablet to the speakers making it an upgradation of the Home. As you may have already imagined it. You can now have output in form of images or videos along with voice as well. According to Diya’s claim, up to 400% of Google Home users have gone up in the last year.

Details and Features

The Google’s most used services like search, Youtube, Photos have been redesigned just for Google Home Hub. Making the lives of Google Home users a lot easier. So the questions asked here are, why should you need this? What kind of help will you require? How should will it interact will your family? Well they answered these questions as well.

The display is not too big and not too small either. It is perfect to blend around your house easily.

Ambient EQ

Ambient EQ is a technology which is a combination of Google’s imaging algorithms with a dedicated sensor. You can use this to fine tune the color and display of your Google Home Hub to your personal tastes and preferences. The Hub will automatically respond to the lightening around the device to make the screen comfortable to look at, any time of the day as expected it will turn off automatically at night.

With this technology doesn’t matter what time, day or light the device is facing it will automatically blend in with your family and house.

Speech Recognition

Google also says that they have designed the Hub for everyone in the house. Meaning the device will recognize the voice of the speaker and tell every single detail about this schedule or plans for the day. Providing a personal experience for everyone who it will recognize.

How does this thing work? Mark Spates the product leader of Google Home speakers showed it how it actually works.

Just saying, “Hi, Google. Good Morning” the Google Hub recognized and responded to Mark and told his schedule for the day even telling what he has to buy for the evening.

According to Mark, the device has the best display for the kitchen which will help a lot who are used to cook with a cellphone in their hands. This will solve this problem as well.

Music

One of the most important and major features of any smart speakers device is to find the exact song from the internet and play it on spot. Since Youtube is one of the biggest websites for streaming Music, Google has a plus point here to incorporate Youtube with Hub. It can recognize from the very simplest sentence “Find me a popular song.” to find the trending song on Youtube and play it.

You may be thinking that these are the most obvious features and I ain’t gonna spend a cent on this stuff. Worry not there is more stuff.

Home View

One of the major things about these kinds of devices is to set up other devices with the help of it. Google Hub is offering a solution for this as well. Home View is what another interesting and innovative feature of Hub solving a major problem. What is the problem? The problem is if you have quite some smart devices in your home like a smart TV, thermostat, doorbell, lighting system etc you will have to visit different apps to control them.

Home View provides you with a solution for the above problem by letting you control all of the devices with a help of a simple swipe down. It will bring a simple dashboard which will allow you to control any smart device with a tap or even your voice.

The fun thing is you can see statistics of other rooms from the device like light intensity, thermostat etc. It helps a lot if no one’s is using the lights you can turn them off by sitting in the other corner of your room.

What if you are not in your home?

If you are not in the house no worries. Download the redesigned the home app which has the same dashboard as the Home View in Hub allows you to control the devices of your house without being in the house.

According to Diya, the Google Home Hub can connect up to 200 Million devices with over 1000 brands.

Google Home Hub Uses in Idle Mode

Here comes the most important thing to ask, what it should do when no one’s using it? I think it is quite obvious but let me mention this as well. It can be used as a digital frame, with a brilliant display and being teamed up with nest, you can have the best digital frame for your house. Integrated with Google Photos, one of the most used apps in the world, you can take pictures and upload it on Google photos and bam! It will be on your Google Hub when you will reach home.

It will also create live albums where you will select your favorite pictures and will make a slideshow of pictures you love. It will also update everytime you upload a photo on Google Photos.
