How to use iOS 8 Hey Siri feature on battery?

Apple’s new iOS 8 came with several new features and enhancements. One of them being Hey Siri feature. The feature enables you to invoke Siri just using your voice. So, whenever you are doing some sort of jobs through your hands and can’t grab your iPhone, you can just use your voice to turn on SIRI. Afterwards, you can perform tasks through Siri.

However, Hey Siri feature is limited to charging mode only. It means you can’t use it on battery by default. You need to have your iPhone plugged-in to use this feature.

To sort this issue, here is a workaround that will enable Hey Siri feature for iPhone on battery mode. The workaround is bit tricky but will surely do the job for you. Follow the step-by-step guide below,

  1. Head to Settings > General > Siri.
  2. Enable the ‘Allow Hey Siri’ switch.
  3. Hold Home button to invoke Siri.
  4. Once it is invoked, don’t say anything.
  5. Let the Siri request timeout.
  6. It will still display Siri screen. Say ‘Hey Siri’ now.

This will trigger the Hey Siri feature. As your device is auto-locked, you will lost Siri access. You can only use the feature on battery mode when Siri screen is displayed. You can change the auto-lock value by heading to Settings > General > Auto-lock.
