Samsung Galaxy S10 Ultra Wide Camera Hinted By New Android Pie Beta Update

As you may already know the Android Pie beta program was launched on Galaxy Note 9 and S9 smartphones a few days ago. Members of the Samsung community who had registered for the beta program were given a chance to try out the upcoming Samsung One UI which is designed around Android Pie. While there are many new features that are offered in the new UI, there is this one particular camera app feature called, Ultra wide lens correction, that doesn’t apply to either the Note 9 or S9 smartphones. This has gotten me thinking that the feature is perhaps reserved for Samsung Galaxy S10 Ultra Wide Camera lens.

The way this feature works is that an Ultra Wide lens on a smartphone distorts the image around the edges making it appear curved. To fix this, the image is slightly cropped along the edges making it look normal again. This is what the “Ultra wide lens correction” feature is meant to do without all the extra editing steps.

How Does It Imply a Samsung Galaxy S10 Ultra Wide Camera lens?

Well, since the Note 9 and S9 don’t have an ultra-wide camera lens it is not too speculative to think that perhaps the feature is reserved for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10. I mean there already have been several leaks and rumors surrounding the possibility of Samsung Galaxy S10 Ultra Wide Camera.

Here is a comparison of an ultra wide image that is corrected for distortion and one that is not.

Here Is How You Do It On Android Pie Beta on Samsung S9/Note 9

If you are using the beta program on your S9 or Note 9 then simply head over to your camera app and then go into settings. Look for “save options” and you will find the ultra wide lens correction option there.

This is all, do let me know what you think about this feature in the comments below.
