A number of updates were announced for Google Chrome OS back in June in Google I/O 2014. It was announced that Chrome OS will be able to run Android apps as well and the day is here. Today Google announced the first set of Android apps that you’ll be able to run on your Chromebook.

First set of Android apps include 4 apps including Vine, Evernote, Duolingo and Sight Words. Evernote and Vine are very popular apps. Vine lets you create and share short videos up to 6 seconds and Evernote lets you write, collect and find the things you want on multiple devices and sync them. Duolingo is a fun and free way to learn a new language if you want to. And the last one, Slight Words, is very helpful to improve your child’s reading skills.

These apps are available under project App Runtime for Chrome (Beta).  As the name suggests, the project is still under beta. Google will be working with developers to make more Android apps available on Chrome OS. You can tell Google which Android app you want to see next on Chromebook here.
