How to Root Galaxy Note 2 on Android 4.4.2 KitKat?

Samsung handsets i.e. Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3 etc. have been receiving latest Android 4.4.2 update for few weeks now. Recently, Galaxy Note 2 got the latest update. The update is now available via OTA on all Galaxy Note 2 handsets.

Like other handsets, if you have installed the official Android 4.4.2 update on Galaxy Note 2, you have lost your root access. You need to root Galaxy Note 2 again on the latest firmware Android 4.4.2 to be able to customize your device i.e. flash custom ROMs.

Root Galaxy Note 2 on Android 4.4.2 using CF Auto-root tool:

The procedure is for Galaxy Note 2 model number N7100 only. Only advanced users should carry out the procedure. Moreover you also need to consider these pre-requisites before you begin. Otherwise you may end up bricking your phone.

Steps to Root Galaxy Note 2 N7100:

It’s time to begin the actual procedure. Let’s follow the step by step guide:

  1. First of all, download the ChainFire Auto-root tool from here.
  2. Download ODIN v3.09 tool ( Source 1 | Source 2 | Source 3 ).
  3. Extract the contents of both in a new folder on desktop.
  4. Install ODIN tool on your PC.
  5. Switch off your Galaxy Note 2.
  6. Boot your device in Android Download Mode by pressing Volume Down, Power and Home key simultaneously.
  7. Run ODIN tool on your PC.
  8. Connect your device with PC via USB cable.
  9. Wait till ODIN tool recognizes the device. If not, reinstall the drivers from the links mentioned above.
  10. If your device is recognized, it will turn ID:COM section on ODIN tool blue or yellow.
  11. Now, click on AP button.
  12. Select the file CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.tar.md5 which has been downloaded earlier.
  13. Don’t make any else changes. Also make sure to uncheck Re-Partition.
  14. Now, simply press the Start button.
  15. After the process completes, your device will automatically reboot and a Pass message will be shown at ODIN tool.
  16. You have now successfully undergone root Galaxy Note 2 procedure.
