With all the hype around Red Dead Redemption 2, it still is surprising that people are trying their hardest to emulate 2010’s highly acclaimed western shooter, Red Dead Redemption for PC. The game is currently being emulated through Xenia, which is an Xbox 360 emulator and still hasn’t made significant progress on the RPCS3 either, a popular PS3 emulator.
Red Dead Redemption For PC – Still Many Cattle To Go
Someone has shared the current state of Red Dead Redemption for PC from the Xbox 360 perspective of things as they shared a video of the game running on Xenia. The previous generation consoles emulator.
You can see that in terms of framerate, the game does a great job of keeping up. It’s mainly with shaders, textures, and cutscenes where the troubles lie. This is only the first 15-20 minutes of the game with the cutscenes skipped and while we know that the opening part of the game runs fine, we are still a far cry from having the game playable from beginning to end, especially people who are chasing after the 100% completion in the game.
Keep in mind that the game is a massive open world game with plenty of side quests, collectibles, and content. Unlike more linear games there are still plenty of variables that can take a significant time to bypass and make the game reach a playable state or even on the level of the console. If you are still waiting for emulation to catch up, you’re better off buying an Xbox 360 with a copy of the game and enjoying the experience.
Red Dead Redemption on PC From Rockstar? Don’t Count Your Luck
Keep in mind that Rockstar has not yet cemented any plans to put the game on the PC, and there is strong speculation that Red Dead Redemption 2 could come to the PC very soon. For now, all we can do is wait and see on what happens on that frontier of news.
Let us know if you’re willing to wait for Red Dead Redemption for PC through emulation or will you just give in and buy a PS3 / Xbox 360 to enjoy the game along with plenty of other console exclusive games you may have missed?
