Power Rangers Movie is officially happening, Release Date Announced

Power Rangers Movie Release Date

The month of July 2016 is practically bursting with as it seems huge blockbusters. With titles like the animated Angry Bird and Steven Spielberg’s The BFG and Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day 2 are all scheduled in the start of the month. A new Marvel Studios project and a Bourne movie is planned in the middle and the month ends with King Arthur and the sequel of the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. But if you think that’s all, then there is another thing coming your way. The Power Rangers Movie is coming in July 2016.

Lionsgate has officially announced that their in-development Power Rangers Movie has now been placed on the release date calendar and will be making its way into theaters on July 22, 2016. With so many titles mentioned above, there is only one that contradicts with the Power Ranger Movie that is King Arthur, which is a pretty big thing.

Warner Bros. is thinking Sherlock Holmes level success for their Medieval action adventure film and that should be stiff competition for the Power Rangers Movie.

No director has been hired for the film as of yet, but currently guiding the ship as Executive Producer and story developer is Transformers/Star Trek/Amazing Spider-Man 2 writer/producer Roberto Orci. Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who are best known for their work on comic book movies like X-Men: First Class and Thor, are currently penning the script of the Power Rangers Movie. They were hired for the job a few weeks ago.

No plot details have been released about the Power Rangers movie but the official description is as follows, “a modern reinvention of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world.”
