The Sony PlayStation 5 is available for pre-order, and we know the exact date of its launch. The next-generation console from Sony will be available in November, and we expect it to be available locally as well. However, the real question that’s on everyone’s mind is how much will it be priced for? What is the price of both models, and how much will the controller cost? Here’s everything we do know.
Now, it should be mentioned that the prices are based purely on speculation and past market trends. Given the economic situation of Pakistan, there’s a lot of factors that will dictate what the final actual price will be.
PlayStation 5 Price
Now, Sony has officially unveiled the prices for the two models the PS5 is launching with. We know that there is a disc model and one that is digital-only. The following are the official prices from Sony
- PS5: $499
- PS5 Digital Edition: $399
These aren’t subject to change, and this is what people who are pre-order are paying.
If we convert these prices to PKR as of 23rd September, this is what we get
- PS5: $499 = 83,426.76 PKR
- PS5 Digital Edition: $399 = 66,707.97 PKR
Now, ideally, one would expect these prices anyway, but given how expensive current-generation consoles are at the moment, there is no way you can expect the price to be this much.
The PS4 Slim’s price is currently $299 worldwide, and that totals to around 50,000 PKR, however, if you go out to purchase it in Pakistan, you are looking at at least 60,000 PKR for the 500 GB model, and around 70,000 PKR for the 1 TB model.
These are prices after the console has been out for around 7 years now. The price hasn’t gone down but way up ever since the dollar price changed. Around 2 years ago, you could get the PS4 Slim model for 32,000 PKR, but now it’s become a very luxurious hobby.
This brings us to the PS5 prices, and what you should expect. A few stores have already disclosed what prices are expected, and for the PS5, you are looking at AT LEAST 150,000 PKR. Since the Digital Edition is for $100 less, you can expect that for around 135,000 PKR.
This is going to be one of the most expensive launches, and we’re unsure when the price will drop down a reasonable price.
As far as availability is concerned, with the number of retailers now importing things on time, and even earlier at times, you can expect the console to launch at the same time as everywhere else, which is on 12th November 2020.
DualSense Wireless Controller Price
The console comes with one DualSense controller, which features immersive haptic feedback, dynamic adaptive triggers, and a built-in microphone.
The controller if bought individually is for $69, which is around 11,500 PKR as of 23rd September 2020.
At the moment, the Dual Shock 4 v2 controller, which is priced for $60, costs around 10,000 PKR, so you can expect the Dualsense to be priced around 13,000 PKR to 15,000 PKR.
These prices are all based on market trends and the dollar value, which at the time of writing is constantly moving between 165 and 166. If the value goes higher, you can expect these prices to go higher as well.
