Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds is a game that has been making significant waves on the internet these past few months, and while it was only recently Microsoft and Bluehole entered into a partnership to bring the game to Xbox One, we finally know Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Xbox One Release Date.
The Microsoft team painted the town blue when they dropped some PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in their “special event” stream only hours ago from the stage at Paris Games Week during Microsoft’s live stream.
The game has managed to surpass Valve’s own Dota 2 in concurrent players, and while the game has faced fierce competition against Epic Games contender for the throne, Fortnite (keep in mind that Fortnite offers crossplay between PS4 and PC, so the numbers are cumulative of both versions of the game), the game is still a harrowing success for PC gamers.
In additional good news, the game will officially leave Steam early access and reach 1.0 status later in December for the PC, but the wait will be slightly longer for Xbox One players.
Still feeling the effects of their success on PC, Developer Bluehole is taking the PUBG experience to the Xbox One. The team officially confirmed that the battle-royale style game will be hitting shelves on December 12th, 2017 with a modest price tag of $29.99.
As of current news, there are no plans to cross-release with the Playstation 4 – making PUBG an Xbox One exclusive title. This is due to a strategic partnership between Bluehole and Microsoft where the latter offered the water tech from Sea of Thieves. In addition, the game will also switch from using Amazon servers to Microsoft’s Azure Platform, which is cloud based hosting. These two along could mean PUBG staying as a Xbox One exclusive for a long time.
While nothing is confirmed, there are inklings that if the game is successful on consoles, it can become a launch title for the upcoming Xbox One X system. It was further revealed that the game will only benefit from HDR for the new console with 4K being a feature in the final release.
On a closing note, The Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (Xbox One code) is open for preorder on Best Buy with GCU bringing the price down to $23.99.
