The Persona Concert finished only minutes ago, and like yesterday, was concluded with a reveal of a game. Yesterday we got a look at Persona 5: The Royal, today’s surprise is Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers. The game is supposed to be a musou fighter (Dynasty Warriors).
Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers is coming to PS4/Switch – No release date yet
In a surprise twist, it looks like Nintendo Switch users could be getting Persona 5 after all. Once you take away all the JPRG elements of it and replace it with a musou game. Similar games in the genre include the Dynasty Warriors games and Hyrule Warriors.
Musou games are generally 1 v 1000 type games, where you have an overpowered character ravaging the fields against weak foot soldiers, fighting strong bosses in the field to boost your own soldier’s morale, and the first side to defeat all of the bosses on the opposing side wins.
For a long time, fans thought that Persona 5 could be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Fans were expecting the PS4 turn-based JRPG with multiple endings and the ability to be a Phantom Thief. It seems however, Persona 5 Scramble is what Nintendo Switch fans are getting after all.
The above screenshots were leaked on Reddit on the Persona Subreddit. Depending on which side of the glass you’re standing on, the news will either be very pleasant or dissatisfying. As a fan of musou games, I would love to wait and see more details on the game.
Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers is definitely a surprise no one literally saw coming.
While the trailer still doesn’t tell us any detail about the release date, we can assume that the cast of the base Persona 5 games will be here for us to play as. I am personally looking forward to using Joker.
We can hope for future updates from Atlus, perhaps a release date will follow up in the coming weeks!
Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below, are you excited or disappointed at the reveal of the game? Do you still hope for a core Persona RPG on the Nintendo Switch?
