Paul Rudd as Ant-Man; First Official Picture Arrives (First Look)

Paul Rudd as Ant-Man

I know we have been waiting for this development to finally take place. And here it is. The Ant-Man of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been finalized and is in production phase. Ant-Man director Peyton Reed confirmed that his Marvel Production is finally underway. Although this is not as easy as it looks like. This has happened after months of uncertainty and gear-shifting. We have our first image of Paul Rudd in character.

This is a shot of Paul Rudd depicting the character of Scott Lang, a criminal who will be pulled into the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). This will happen through an unexpected mentor Hank Pym. From the looks of it, we are seeing Lang in his early stages. He is likely at his lowest, when the universe seems to be conspiring against him. In this phase he (Paul Rudd) is forced to steal to provide for his bedridden daughter. Lang will probably be breaking into the laboratories of Dr. Pym and steal the Ant-Man technology. Resulting in him being the Ant-Man.

Little is known whether he will use it for evil or good. In addition to the modern story of Scott Lang, we are beginning to assume that a chunk of Ant-Man will be relating to the older MCU. It is also expected that young Hank Pym will be interacting with historical figures from the MCU such as Howard Stark and a young Michael Douglas. This suggests a flashback.

The production as of yet is going on in San Francisco but after securing images here, they will shift to Atlanta. This we know by the landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge. There was a footage of Ant-Man at San Diego Comic-Con. No doubt it looked very cool but it’s tough how much of Ant-Man will they be able to pull of practically or physically. Because we saw Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) riding on a huge ant. This suggests a lot of green screen.

Ant-Man is due in theatres in July 17, 2015.
