New Apple Patent Confirms Future iPhones will ditch Notch for In-display Sensors

Apple iPhone Without A Notch

Apple was the first big company that introduced Notch last year in a flagship phone in an attempt to go bezel-less. iPhone X was the Apple’s first attempt to mainstream notches to provide a temporary solution to a bigger problem at that time. Bezels were like a plague to iPhone models whereas Samsung was already having bezel-less Galaxy S8 with the curved display. So, to adjust the sensors and go bezel-less Apple added the notch while removing the Touch ID.

Later on, many companies copied Apple blatantly even Google added huge ass notch to Pixel 3 XL. But now latest Apple patent confirms Apple is already planning to ditch the notch in favor of In-display Sensors. As seen below in the images, the most likely way to achieve this is by having a cutout OLED panels used in a phone.

Even Samsung is already preparing to do the same, most probably with Samsung Galaxy S10. They already displayed the use cases of the SDC Sensor Tech at AMOLED Forum in South Korea. If this thing becomes reality and mainstream then it will be the end of Notch Era. You can see in the image below how Samsung will use under the display sensors including fingerprints and camera.
