Monster Hunter World PC releases next month. Some users have been given early access. One such user is ResetEra’s FluffyQuack. He gave some initial performance tests for Monster Hunter World PC and things aren’t exactly looking up.
FluffyQuack noted that NVIDIA GTX 1080 is unable to give 60 FPS on 1440p on the highest settings. Following are the results of his tests:
I did a quick performance test in the starting hub (running the game at 2560×1440): Highest preset: 44 Highest preset (except for volumetric set to “high”): 50 High preset: 60 Mid preset: 65 Low preset: 108
At the highest preset, the game runs at an unremarkable 44 FPS. FluffyQuack was using a rather powerful Intel-i7 4790K with 16 GB of RAM. The root of some of these performance issues lies in an option called “Volume Rendering Quality”. When enabled, performance takes a severe hit.
This was all done on the highest settings so keep in mind that Monster Hunter World PC can run on or even exceed 60 FPS. But it won’t run at smooth 60 FPS at 1440p on the highest settings.
