Valve is known for leaving clever clues for nerds when it comes to teasing Dota 2 new hero either through Arcana, update leaks, or even tournaments. Every years Valve releases comics, which interestingly subtly hints about upcoming stuff. Most of the time they release a trailer for new hero in The International (Possibly the biggest eSport tournament arranged by valve). Releasing new heroes is not as easy as it might seems. One thing that League players can brag about League of Legends is their champion releasing speed is crazy compared to Dota 2.
Why does introduction of a Dota 2 new hero really is a big deal? Well the answer is, lore. Lore of Dota 2 is so amazing and deeply connected with every hero that makes you want to know more and more about Dota universe instead of playing. The thing that makes Dota 2 shine on other games of similar genres.
Valve brought every hero from the original Dota into Dota 2 and thus taking the game out of the beta status. Now let’s talk about the possible new heroes that might come in the future updates or after The International 2018.
Dueling Fates Update
It’s surprising when Valve announces a new hero or hints it either in the lore or items or comics, but it’s beyond surprising when instead of 1 they announce 2 heroes. 10 months after the releasing of Monkey King along with patch 7.00 (The biggest patch Dota 2 has ever received) Valve announced 2, yeah 2 heroes in the International 2017. Making the crowd and community go wild.
Possibility Of Dota 2 New Hero: Mars or Water Spirit
People in Dota 2 love to speculate. Who doesn’t? After all, we always want new stuff – new drama, new game mechanic, new item, and of course, new hero.

This image seems to be hinting about a possible new spirit brother of the already existing Spirit Brothers. The theme of TI7 was liquid and we can see the colors of the Spirit Brothers is orange, blue, green and purple respectively. However, Valve did not release any information about this new hero in The International 2017 whatsoever.
Some few months ago through updates, the reddit Dota 2 community posted about the images that came with the updates. Which showed ability icons of the hero.
This was immediately removed in the following update showing that there might be a possibility of a new hero codenamed as “Mars” like they did with Dark Willow as “Sylph”. We will have to wait that if Valve is really planning on releasing 2 heroes or 1.
