Jurassic World; 3D or not 3D

Jurassic World

It happened a couple of years ago that Steven Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park got a 3D overhaul and arrived in theaters again. Today we are dealing with a whole new series of the adventure franchise. Today Colin Trevorrow will be sending new genetically altered dinosaurs into theaters with Jurassic World, and the movie will be coming with an option whether or not to see it in 3D. So the question is, do you want to spend the extra money?

While the quality of the movie itself won’t be evaluated, the purpose of this will be to tell you whether you want to go to your nearest (or farthest, I don’t know it is your choice) 2D screening, or if you should spend some extra money to get an extra dimension in your Jurassic World experience.

Here is a quick legend about the rating of everything; all tags will be explained and will be given a rating at the end.

Fit Score:

This decides whether the movie, Jurassic World in our POV, should be in 2D or 3D. Not only this is the exact kind of movie that should be made in 3D, but also one that is made to seen on the biggest screen possible (Cinestar is the best option for that).

Score: 5/5

Planning & Effort Score:

While there were early reports that Jurassic World was going to be filmed in 3D, it seems that never actually played out. The movie was later converted into 3D. Reality being that the movie was planned for both 2D and 3D and was made accordingly.

Score: 4/5

Before the Window Score:

This looks at the elements of the movie that look like they’re actually coming right the audience. You’d think with all the explosive action, tail-whipping, and snout-poking that this would be a bigger deal in Jurassic World but the sad reality is that it’s not.

Score: 2/5

Beyond the Window Score:

Jurassic World may not take much effort in popping things out of the screen but they sure as hell know how to add depth to it – especially in IMAX (Cinestar again).

Score: 5/5

Brightness Score

Brightness has been an issue in 3D movies. This is because the shade of the glasses reduce the brightness of the movie. Although Jurassic World has been mainly filmed in a theme park (that really goes south) and the overall brightness of the movie remains good.

Score: 5/5

Final Verdict

In case the score isn’t enough for you and you still want to watch the movie in 2D, be my guess, although the movie is made for 3D and is worth it.

Final Score: 21/25
