Joan Rivers the gravelly voiced woman and self-deprecating comedian, who rose from Greenwich Village and was the occasional host of “The Tonight Show” and star of TV’s “Fashion Police”, died September 4. She was at the age of 81.

This is what her daughter, Melissa, had to say about her, “She passed peacefully at 1:17 p.m. surrounded by family and close friends”, “My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.”
Joan Rivers had been admitted to New York’s Mt. Sinai hospital because of her health issues. She stopped breathing during an August 28 procedure on her vocal cords at a New York clinic was placed in a medically induced coma to access her condition.

In honor of her death, we would like to say a few words about her performance and her never ending devotion to the industry.
Whatever the performance – permanent replacement host on “The Tonight Show”, co-host of “Fashion Police”, her own varied syndicated talkshows, Vegas engagements, bestselling non-fiction books and often biting commentator on awards’ show arrivals along with her daughter Melissa.
She had this biting comedy ability to ad-lib in any situation and sheer moxie endeared her to generations of television viewers. She was the ultimate yenta, a talent exemplified on her scathing commentary on E!’s “Fashion Police”. Joan Rivers started co-hosting the show in 2010 along with Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos.
Among her many books are such autobiographical accounts as “Enter Talking”, “Still Talking”, “Bouncing Back” and “Don’t Count the Candles: Just Keep the Fire Lit!”.
In addition to Joan Rivers’ daughter, survivors include a grandson, Cooper. Her sister Barbara died in 2013, at the age of 82.
