News was broke a few days ago that Apple has made the highest quarterly profit in history. Here is another proof of that as Apple achieved another milestone today. Between October and December in USA, Apple took the lead and managed to sell more iPhone units than all the Android manufacturers combined.
Although there is a very little difference in units sold. iPhone units were sold 0.1% more than the Android phones but still it is a great achievement as many companies make Android phones, but only Apple makes iPhone so it is one company vs. many companies, including the most successful Android company, Samsung.
iOS devices were sold 47.7% and Android devices were sold 47.6% overall. Microsoft manages to sell 3.8% of devices in USA in the last quarter and Blackberry could only ship 0.3% devices.
The best selling smartphone in USA was Apple iPhone 6 while the second best selling smartphone was, as you may have guessed, Samsung Galaxy S5.
Last time Apple managed to sell more units than Android was in 2012. But obviously, Android has more market share globally and it is not easy to overtake its market share anytime soon.
