A Twitter user by the name of Tum Apisak recently leaked specifications of Intel’s upcoming line of mobile processors. The processors in question go by the codename Whiskey Lake-U. Although Whiskey Lake is yet to be officially announced by Intel, however, two processors that belong to the mobile category of Intel processors were leaked by Tum Apisak. The two leaked processors are i5-8265U and i7-8565U. The Intel Whiskey Lake-U i5-8265U and i7-8565U processors belong to the 8th generation of Intel processors.
Intel Whiskey Lake-U i5-8265U and i7-8565U processors initially emerged in SiSoftware database and 3DMark database as stated by Tum Apisak in his tweet. It seems like Intel is hard at work judging by the abundant processor releases this year. PC enthusiasts have been anticipating the arrival of 9th Gen Intel Coffee Lake S processors which have also been leaked recently. On top of that Intel is going to release the Whiskey Lake-U as well which is good news for consumers. The sudden pace in production and arrival of new processors seems to be a consequence of AMD’s strong presence in the market as of last year after they released their Ryzen line of processors.
Coming back to the leaked Intel Whiskey Lake-U i5-8265U and i7-8565U processors, the former is a 4 core and 8 thread CPU with a base clock of 1.6 GHz and a boost clock of 3.9GHz, while the later is also a 4 core 8 thread CPU with a base clock of 1.8 GHz and a boost clock of 4.5 GHz. The boost clocks for both these processors are extremely high considering they are mobile CPUs. According to a Reddit post, both these processors are also found in Haier Boyue M53 series laptops.
Furthermore, there has been some speculation regarding a 10nm intel Core i3-8121U processor. To be fair people were expecting Intel’s 9th gen processors to be based on 10nm architecture, however, the leaked documents have revealed otherwise. For now, it is not definitive whether Intel will be releasing a 10nm line of processors this year but it is certainly under development. According to some analysts, future Intel 10nm Intel Core i3-8121U processor would possibly feature 2.7x transistor density over 14 nm. It is also speculated that with 10 nm process node, Intel will be able to fit in 100.8 million transistors per square millimeter and maybe even more.
This is all the info that is available right now, be sure to check back as we will be updating our articles as more info is made available about the upcoming Whiskey Lake and Coffee lake processors.
