Intel has always been behind AMD when it comes to consumer CPUs. However, the most recent addition to Intel’s 10th Generation CPUs seems propitious. The Intel Core i9-10850K (10C/20T) has already been mentioned by OEMs, however, the CPU has now made its way onto many online retail stores. But, the question is, how will it perform?
The Intel Core i9-10850K, in simple words, is an Intel Core i9-10900K but with a decrease of 100 MHz in the base-clock and boost-clock. Nowadays, Intel’s recent Core i9-10900K is in demand by consumers. As a result, Intel has manufactured the Intel Core i9-10900K to make up for a similar performance at a reduced cost. And, the cost-to-performance isn’t that horrible!

Intel Core i9-10850K (10C/20T) Specifications:
Similar to the Intel Core i9-10900K, the Intel Core i9-10850K is a 10-core and 20-thread CPU. As per the online retail stores that the CPU was mentioned on, it has a base-clock of 3.60 GHz and a boost-clock of 5.20 GHz. In contrast, the Intel Core i9-10900K has a base-clock of 3.70 GHz and a boost-clock of 5.30 GHz. So, we can expect a similar performance between the two CPUs! The Intel Core i9-10850K features 20 MB of L3 cache and 2.5 MB of L2 cache, same as the Intel Core i9-10900K.
The Intel Core i9-10850K is based on the same 14nm architecture, not new. However, there is no reference to the TDP of the CPU anywhere. But, since the Intel Core i9-10900K comes with a TDP of 125W and the specifications of both the CPUs are rather same, we can consider the Intel Core i9-10850K to come with a TDP of 125W as well. As for the cost, LambdaTek mentions the costs to be £459.36 (almost $577.35) and Cyclotron mentions the cost to be €472.76 (almost $540.29).
Yes, these costs are more than what the Intel Core i9-10900K retails for. However, these are inclusive of VATs and customs. And, since these aren’t the pre-announced costs, we can expect the concluded one to be reduced. The Intel Core i9-10850K (10C/20T) is also in opposition to the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X (12C/24T), which is almost $100 cheaper than the Intel Core i9-10900K. And, it has 2 more cores and 4 more threads, and 100 MHz more base-clock. For the Intel Core i9-10850K to compete with the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, it needs to be cheaper and more accessible to the consumers.
