A couple of weeks ago we showed you how you can download and install Google Pixel 3 Camera APK on your older Pixel devices. Thanks to xdadevelopers member cstark27 who had managed to port NightSight feature onto Pixel and Pixel 2 devices. Today, cstark27 has released an updated port to his Google Camera mod which in addition to NightSight, now brings Portrait Mode to the original Google Pixel and Pixel XL and adds Photobooth, motion tracking autofocus, and real-time Google Lens Suggestions to the Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL.
Google had previously stated that out of all the new camera features on Google Pixel 3 only NightSight mode will officially be supported by previous Google Pixel phones via an OTA update. This bummed many people out because many of the new features were software-based as opposed to being hardware dependent. This means that should Google want they can easily offer the same features on previous Pixel phones, however, that is not the case.
Thanks to independent modders and developers, we now have many of the features that are meant for Pixel 3 being ported to earlier devices.
Let’s see how we can get these.
