Everything related to Information Tech has been revolutionized. From computer to simple hand gadgets like watches, every single thing has undergone massive innovations. Remember, having a computer of your bedroom size! And now, you can put that computer with even best specs and features in your small pockets. It has now become the world of phones, tablets, watches, gadgets and gears.

In the past, you used to have storage in MBs, even in KBs. Remember the era of floppy disks. But now, you can carry TBs of data with you in a single hard disk. Pen USB drives also termed as Flash drives carries GBs of data. The size is so small that your pocket can hold three four of flash drives easily. The other storage, memory storage, has also undergone same enhancements. Nowadays, you have RAM in GBs, which used to be in MBs. Remember popular sizes of RAM in MBs i.e. 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB etc.

Your hard disk storage has increased considerably but its design and architecture has not undergone any as such innovation. Old Hard disk storage is still common in almost all PCs and laptops as it is cheap and is also reliable. But now, hard disk drives are also entering the new era! The next generation of Hard disk drives is now here! We are talking about Hybrid Drives, the HHDs with SSDs!

Hybrid Drives:

The HDDs with SSDs! Hard Disk Drives with Solid State Drives! As you know, the Solid State drives are the flash memory that storage faster speed and performance. So, when linked up with Hard Disk Drives, they form Hybrid Drives. This adds substantial speed to our cheap storage device i.e. HDD.

Principle of Working of Hybrid Drives:

Hybrid Drives implements the principle of using the SSDs for cache maintenance while HDDs for storage. This is the main principle of its working,

To offer maximum speed and improved performance, your frequently used data is cached on SSDs (Flash storage) while the rest is kept on HDDs.

So, your most used files i.e. both system and personal ones will be maintained at SDDs. The HDDs will have most of the storage while the SDDs will cover the smaller portion of Hybrid Drives.

Characteristics of Hybrid Drives:

So, how these drives differentiates with old traditional HDDs in terms of characteristics? Well, here is the list that clears the distinction:

Availability of Hybrid Drives:

Seagate and Samsung are the first companies to introduce Hard Disk Drives. Back in 2007. Samsung introduced SpinPoint MH80. In the same year, Seagate brought Momentus PSD. Both the Hybrid Drives have 128 or 256 MB flash storage memory. At the moment, Seagate is dominating the race by bringing several Hybrid Drives both for PCs and laptops.

Well, this promises an age when you will all be having the latest Hybrid drives in your devices. This will definitely make your data transfer that is nowadays of GBs faster.
