remove valheim fps cap

Valheim

Valheim is a survival and exploration game from Iron Gate AB and Coffee Stain Publishing. It features a Norse setting, and players can engage in PvP and co-op. The game is a hit on Steam, with overwhelmingly positive reviews. There are some minor technical issues here and there, but given the scale of the game, that is to be expected. Either way, most people seem to be fine with the game, and it performs well enough. If you want to remove the Valheim FPS cap on PC, here is how you can do that.

Now, it should be noted that Valheim is launched in an early access state, meaning players will have to provide feedback to developers over the course of this period. This will help them improve the state of the game, and balance it as well. More content will be added along the way, and the developers have already mapped out the roadmap for this year. Bugs and technical issues should be expected, during this period of what could be 12 months.

Remove the Valheim FPS cap

By default, the game is locked to 60 fps, and you need to unlock that by disabling v-sync. Now, for some users, that still doesn’t seem to work properly, and the framerate rate is capped at 60 fps. Thankfully, you can fix that, and remove the cap entirely by following the steps below.

Now, you’ll notice that the framerate cap has been removed.

Valheim is off to a great start and peaked at 31K players according to steamcharts. We expect that number to climb given how positive the reception is. The developers have something really special here, and the online aspect of it has really helped it overall. 2021 is off to a great start when it comes to games, especially PC games, and we are excited to see how well other Early Access titles like Dyson Sphere Program and Everspace 2 do.
