Maneater is a shark role-playing game developed by Tripwire Interactive and published by Deep Silver. You play as the apex predator of the sea, and devour anything in your path. The game is available on PC via Epic Games Store for now and on PS4 and Xbox One. If you want to play Maneater with PS4 controller on the PC version, here’s how you can do it.
A Steam version was originally announced, and a store page with no release date is also available, however, it is currently only available through Epic Games Store. The game is also announced for the Nintendo Switch and is coming out later in 2020.
Play Maneater with PS4 Controller
Epic Games Launcher doesn’t natively support the Dualshock 4 controller for every game like Steam does. There are two ways you can overcome this and plug in your PS4 controller lying around.
Method 1: Download DS4Windows
- Download the setup from the official DS4Windows webpage
- Extract the zip file using Winrar or 7zip
- Run DS4Windows.exe
- Connect your Dual Shock 4 controller, and click on Install ViGEmBus Driver
- Restart your PC, and after that your controller should light up and show up in DS4Windows
That’s all you have to do to get your PS4 controller hooked up with Maneater. Next time you run the game, it will work as intended. Keep in mind that the in-game button layout won’t change.
Method 2: Add Epic Games Launcher to Steam
Now, this method will run Epic Games Launcher through Steam, and in turn allow you to use Steam’s native support for Dualshock 4. All your Epic Games Launcher titles will have that support should you choose to go with this method.
- Run Steam, and navigate to Games and then Add a Non-Steam Game to Library
- A list of programs will show up. Select Epic Games Launcher in it and click Add Selected Programs
- After this, Epic Games Launcher will be added to your library and will run through Steam
- To make sure your controller is connected in Steam, open Steam Settings and select Controller
- Now select General Controller Settings
- If your controller is connected, you will see it under Detected Controllers
Both methods will work, and after you use either one, Maneater will be playable with a Dualshock 4 controller.
