Here are some workarounds to get this error fixed on Steam,
1) RESTART STEAM
Sometimes, most of the problems can be fixed by very simple methods. This is also the most basic fix that you can try for the error.
- Go to the Windows System tray and find Steam.
- Right-click Steam and click on Exit.
- Now open Steam again from your desktop or Start menu.
2) VERIFY DOWNLOADED FILES
This is also a very basic and common solution for most errors occurring on Steam. Verifying downloaded files will check all of the files on your HDD and compare it with the files on the Steam server. If you got any file corrupted during the download it will fix it without having to download the game from scratch. Here’s how you can verify files on Steam:
- Open Steam from your desktop or start menu.
- Left-click GTA 5 from your Steam library.
- Now right-click GTA 5 and select Properties.
- Click the LOCAL FILES tab.
- Now click the “VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES…” option.
It will then check all of the GTA 5 files and it will take a few minutes depending on the type of storage you have installed GTA 5 on.
3) RESTART PC

4) REINSTALL ROCKSTAR LAUNCHER
If you’re still facing the error after following the steps above, try reinstalling Rockstar Launcher. You can Uninstall it by:
- Open Start Menu and search and open Control Panel.
- Click “Uninstall a program” under Programs category (in case you haven’t found it change the view from small/large icons to Category)
- Now find Rockstar Games Launcher from the list and click Uninstall.
- After uninstalling open your GTA 5 folder and find Redistributables folder (located in mostly C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\GTAV\Redistributables)
OR
- Right click Rockstar Games Launcher shortcut which can be found on your desktop.
- Click Properties.
- Click Open File Location.
- Click “up-to” button on the left side of the Windows address bar.
- Now delete the Launcher folder.
