Borderlands 3 is finally available and has been off to a rocky start when taken the technical issues into account. If you’re on PC and have run into a Borderlands 3 Corrupt Save File issue on PC, here’s how you can recover it.
Gearbox has commented on the technical reception of the game, and have assured players that they are working to fix the issues.
Borderlands 3 Corrupt Save File Recovery Guide
Multiple users have reported that their save files have been corrupted after switching computers, or after certain crashes.
Epic Games Store has confirmed that they have deployed a hotfix for the cloud saving related issue regarding the save files.
However, if you’ve lost your save files unrelated to the cloud saving issue mentioned above, here’s how you can recover it. As always, create a backup of your new save file before doing this, just in case
- Head over to the following directory
Documents/My Games/Borderlands 3/SavedSaveGames
- Now, move or rename the .sav file of the corrupt character like 1.sav to 1.sav.corrupt
- After that, rename the matching .tmp backup file after the original name of the corrupt character file like 1.sav~RF41d945e.tmp to 1.sav
This method has been reported to work for many users, and we hope it works for you as well.
Thank you all for your continued enthusiasm and support. We want Borderlands 3 to be the best game possible and are actively monitoring your feedback.
