Amnesia Rebirth is a horror-adventure game from Frictional Games. It is now available on PC via Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store, PS4, and Xbox One. If you are on the PC version and are running into the Amnesia Rebirth not launching issue, here are a few things you can try to fix that.
This is the third entry in the series, and a direct sequel to the first game. Just like SOMA, Amnesia Rebirth also has great critical reception with a Metacritic score of 83.

If you can’t seem to launch the game at all, here are a few things you can ensure before trying again.
Fix 1: Download the latest Visual Studio Runtime Dlls
Download the latest Windows runtime dlls here
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x64)
- Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64)
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Package (x64)
Fix 2: Run as Admin
Try running the game as admin. You can do this by following the steps below
- Head over to where the game is installed
- Right-click on the game’s executable
- Select Properties
- Click the Compatibility tab
- Here, check “Run this program as an admin”
- Press OK, and relaunch the game
Fix 3: Reset Game Settings
To do this, head over to the game’s save directory
- Vista, 7 & 8.x: Documents\My Games\Amnesia Rebirth\
- Linux: ~/.local/share/frictionalgames/Amnesia Rebirth/
- Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/Frictional Games/Amnesia Rebirth
- Remove the [username]_user_settings.cfg file
Fix 4: Update GPU Drivers
Make sure you are on the latest versions of your GPU drivers. You can download these from the links below
