Cyberpunk 2077’s launch has been pretty rough, and this is definitely not what anyone was expecting. CD Projekt has announced that they are working hard to fix all the bugs and technical issues that are prevalent across PC and consoles. It’s obvious at this point that the game runs best on PC, and offers the most stable experience on this platform. However, there are ways to improve your PC experience even further. If you want to enable the Cyberpunk 2077 slow HDD mode, here is how.
Base consoles from the last-generation have suffered the most when it comes to performance and visuals. CD Projekt Red has issued an apology on this matter and offered gamers to look into refund policies. Just today, Sony has delisted Cyberpunk 2077 from the PS Store, and it will most likely return when all the issues are fixed.
Enable the Cyberpunk 2077 slow HDD Mode for better performance
Now, games are getting bigger, and even though your hard drives usually handle loading times, there’s a lot of texture streaming that is done through storage as well. Since an SSD is recommended according to CD Projekt Red, players without one can opt for a setting dedicated to just HDD players.
You can enable the slow HDD mode, which can improve performance for both regular HDD, and even SSD users. Enabling this setting setting is simple, and you can do so by following the steps below.
- Launch Cyberpunk 2077 on PC
- Open Settings, and then click on the Gameplay tab
- Here, under Performance, toggle Slow HDD Mode “On”
You might need to restart the game for it to apply, but after that, the game will run much smoother for you, and you might notice an improvement in frame rate as well.

Sony removing Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation store truly is a shocking move, but it seems that the current condition of the game simply isn’t fit for the PS Store according to Sony. Something like this has never really happened before, especially for a big-budgeted release like Cyberpunk 2077.
