Let’s be honest, the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 could have gone smoother. There are bugs, technical problems, and glitches all over, and CD Projekt Red are committed to patching those. Despite all that, the game is doing very well when it comes to player count. Over 1 million people were playing the game on Steam, making it the highest concurrently played single-player game on the platform. If you are on PC and want to change the Cyberpunk 2077 FOV beyond what is available in-game, here is how you can do it.
A game of this scale is bound to have bugs and glitches, and we hope that CD Projekt Red manage to fix those in a few patches. Based on the footage, and comparisons, one thing is clear however, PC is the definitive version for the game, and clearly what the game was primarily developed for.
How to change the Cyberpunk 2077 FOV
Since Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person game, the field of view is very important. Most players will prefer a higher field of view, and users with ultrawide monitors might want to go even higher. There is an in-game FOV slider, but it is limited to 100, as you can see below.
If you want to go higher, and use a custom value, you can follow the steps below.
- Head over to where your game is installed, and navigate to the following folders
\r6\config\settings\platform\pc
- Now, open the options.json file using a text editor like Notepad
- Here you need to search for the fieldofview value, you can do so by click on Edit and then and then Find/Find Next
- Change the max_value to whatever you want, for example, we are setting it to 120. Please don’t change any other value as the game won’t boot if you do so.
- Save the file and exit
The next time you launch Cyberpunk 2077, the maximum FOV value will be the one you entered.

Most games usually have a limit of how wide the field of view can be increased, and it is not different in Cyberpunk 2077. Keep in mind that increasing the FOV will also impact performance in some way, so if you already struggling with framerate, it isn’t advisable to go beyond what is already listed.
