The Mobile Suit Gundam series has been an iconic series within the anime community as soon as 1979. It has come out with some really great shows like Gundam Wing, Gundam Seed, Gundam 00, and Iron-Blooded Orphans to name a few. So then, where will the Gundam franchise go next? Well…what if we told you it had something to do with Hello Kitty (No, we’re serious. Don’t click away, hear us out). Gundam Vs Hello Kitty was just announced and all of us are intrigued.

The trailer is very wild. It features the cast of Hello Kitty watching Gundam on TV, getting really concerned and invested and then randomly appearing as a giant space balloon. This is clearly a very ambitious project but it might be just crazy enough to work. The prospect of combining something so comical like Hello Kitty with the seriousness of the Gundam series is just outlandish enough to make sense.
Several questions arise though. Will we finally see the murderous side of Hello Kitty as it jumps into a mech and starts blowing up spaceships (or even other Gundams)? I guess only time will tell.
Whether you’re a fan of Gundam or a fan of Hello Kitty or both, this seems like the thing that you should definitely not sleep on, if nothing else, just for how absolutely bonkers it is.
