GTX 1070 Ti vs GTX 1080 vs GTX 1080 Ti – Should you buy GTX 1070 Ti?

Nvidia Gtx 1070 Ti

Nvidia just officially unveiled the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti and the specifications are the same as the ones rumored. With the current MSRP this GPU is sure to take place of the GTX 1070 and will further more over take the AMD Vega 56 offer.  The GeForce GTX 1070 Ti has one CUDA cluster disabled. The new card is equipped with 2432 CUDA cores. While GTX 1070 Ti has the same memory size as GTX 1080, the memory subsystem is not using GDDR5X technology instead GDDR5 was used. This means the memory bandwidth is 96 GB/s lower than GTX 1080’s and the same for both GTX 1070 cards.

More performance for the same price?

Currently custom PCB’s from MSi, Gigabyte EVGA and many others are available for purchase. Although the GTX 1070 itself is a great 1440p 60fps GPU the 1070Ti offers 12% – 15% more performance when compared.

What about the GTX 1080?

The GTX 1070 Ti is basically a cut-down GTX 1080 with GDDR5 memory. Board partners decided to use their GTX 1080 coolers and PCB designs for GTX 1070 Ti rather than GTX 1070’s. That’s probably because GTX 1070 Ti has the same TDP as GTX 1080, which is 180W. Last year when Nvidia announced their Flagship GPU it was a monster at the moment till the announcement of the GTX 1080Ti. There is a good chance that the sales of the GTX 1080 will plummet as the GTX 1070Ti is giving almost the similar performance but for less money for now the GPU market might see a trend of GTX 1070Ti and GTX 1080Ti ruling the game as the reasons for buying a GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 are getting lower day by day, unless you buy one for the same price or lower.

Should you get GTX 1070 Ti?

Pre-orders for the GTX 1070Ti are available at the moment, you can order now from Amazon, NewEgg, BestBuy etc. If you are thinking about getting a new GPU today that gives crazy performance for the money the GTX 1070Ti is the best choice available.
