Fan Reaction to Final Fantasy XIV Gender-Locked Races

Fans were generally not happy at the new races. One of the issues many fans had was why these races had to be gender-locked in the first places. On Resetera, some fans expressed disappointment at the game having no good reason for a female Hrothgar or there not being any male Vierra.

Another common criticism found on Reddit was that the Ronso look nothing like their Final Fantasy X counterparts. Fans were displeased that the Ronso name was appropriated and put onto something that appears different.
