Facebook has launched a standalone website for its messenger service, which we will refer to as the Facebook Messenger. This is accessible at messenger.com. You can visit this website and use the Facebook Messenger just as it is available at the main site of Facebook. The company is although obstinate that they won’t take it from Facebook.com.
However, Facebook Messenger was once part of the Facebook apps for mobile as well, but it was taken away from it. People were forced to install the standalone Facebook Messenger app alongside the main one too as they could not use chat in main app. So, as per history states, there is still a slim chance that we’ll see something like this happen on the Web too (hope it doesn’t).
For the time being you can still access the Facebook Messenger at Facebook.com, as well as the new standalone website dedicated for the Messenger. If you go the impartial website of the Facebook Messenger your conversations won’t be interrupted by any other Facebook stuff, which might just be a blessing for someone.
To us I guess, the new website is all about direct communication with your friends and family without any apparent disruptions, while Facebook.com is a lot of things to a lot of people.
Messenger.com will support both of the new features that were brought to the mobile app, which are integration of chat with third party applications and also its easy payments features. For now, the website is available to English-speaking user worldwide. More languages will be added in the near future.
