ELEX is a science fantasy-themed action role-playing video game developed by Piranha Bytes, that is famous for the hit Gothic series and published by THQ Nordic. It was released worldwide on October 17, 2017, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows. Now the game is making it’s way to the fastest selling console in US history, Nintendo Switch. The Brazilian rating board has listed ELEX for the Nintendo Switch, check the image below
This is quite the choice by THQ Nordic because they went on a record saying that the game was too demanding for Switch’s hardware, but it’s possible that due to Switch’s success they very well may be working on a workable port.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, THQ Nordic’s business and product development director Reinhard Pollice said
We’ve been in touch with [Nintendo] about Switch for more than a year, so we’ve been looking at it for our current line-up and… we look wherever it’s possible. It’s a bit sad that they haven’t gone out with a more beefy hardware but it is what it is, so we just have to work our way around it.
It’s obvious that while they have shared concerns about Switch’s limitations, they want to work out some sort of middle ground to release titles like ELEX on Switch as well. While there is no official announcement yet, due to the listing it’s safe to assume THQ Nordic might be announcing it soon.
